April Ross
April Ross was one of the few female beach volleyball players who have won medals during several Olympics. Alix Klineman is the newest Olympian who will be joining the team in Tokyo. Ross's aim is to get her first Olympic gold medal. At 39 she could have her final chance. She's certain that the top prizes can be achieved. If we play our top or perform well, I think we can get that gold medal Ross stated on NBC Boston. "I'm trying to also try to have a bit of luck." Ross born in 1982, and grew up in Costa Mesa California with her siblings and parents, started competing in sports at Newport Harbor High school. Her athletic career was continued by Newport Harbor High School where she participated in several activities. She was a basketball player and also ran track, in addition to her indoor volleyball exploits in her time as a college athlete. Although she was a pro when playing indoors however, it was evident that her abilities were higher than average. Through her high school years, she played middle blocker, outside setter and hitter at the tennis court per her bio at the college. For her efforts she was named an 1999 Gatorade International Player of the year in Circle of Champions. The year 2000 was the time she received the Orange County Athlete of the of the year for volleyball. Although Ross and Klineman have been doing their thing since the year 2017, Klineman was already an established player on the beach scene even before the pair formed. As a matter of fact, Ross has won several major tournaments in her career along with her two teammates. One of them is a legend. From 2007 to 2013 she teamed together with Jennifer Kessy who more recently played the role of Klineman's coach. Together, Kessy Ross was a force in the world circuit, winning the world championship in 2009. In the 2012 Olympic Games, they won the gold medal. Misty May Treanor and Kerri Jennings, the team of legends that won the 2012 Olympic Games in London, beat their opponents to claim the gold medal. Ross Jennings became Walsh Jennings partner in fate after Maytreanor's retirement. The team won bronze in beach volleyball at Rio Olympics 2016. Ross was a student athlete with the Trojans of USC prior to starting her professional career. She played during high school, as well as years prior to hitting the beach as a professional. The time she spent at USC was impressive. As a freshmen in 2000 Her performance was rewarded with the Pac-10 and NCAA Young Player of the Year awards. Her Trojans made it to the Final Four. In her sophomore year, she experienced a devastating personal setback but managed to make it back as an All-American. Through the two years she played for the Trojans, she helped them win consecutive championships. The individual accomplishments of her have established her status as a legend in volleyball. She won the Honda Sports Award 2003-04 for the nation's best female collegiate player. Ross who was an USC international relations student was a renowned volleyball player. Margie Ross, Ross' mother, did not have the opportunity to see her daughter become an international beach volleyball star. Ross's mother died of breast cancer when she was in her sophomore year at USC. She has kept her parents close to her heart. Margie has always been a source of inspiration to her both at and off the beaches.
