Paula Patton was born in Los Angeles to a middle-class family. Her childhood was filled with dreams of great heights. Her most memorable roles include the action spy film Mission: Impossible: Ghost Protocol as well as the romantic thriller Precious. While growing up living in Los Angeles with a middle-class mother, she had lots of desires. Her mother enjoyed watching films and instilled a passion for films in the young girl too. Paula was involved in the co-curricular activities of her school and was particularly drawn to dramatics. Her classmates and she played together and took part in the school's plays. She was a part of numerous high school plays at Hamilton Magnet Arts High School and then decided to pursue acting as a profession. She was enrolled at The University of Southern California in the summer program, and was awed by her experience. The program was awarded to her by PBS to produce documentaries over a period of three months. When she was able to complete the assignment successfully, she started working as an assistant for TV documentary production. Then, she switched to the production of documentaries. Although she enjoyed the work she was doing, she yearned for the role of an actress. She began her acting career by playing a minor character in the film romantic comedy Hitch with Will Smith. She has since played in numerous popular films as well as TV series.
